  • Director & Head Coach

    Asher started boxing at 16 and stuck with it. He has spent more than two decades in the sport, competing across both amateur and professional ranks, including winning the NZPBA Cruiserweight Title in 2016.

    Before boxing took over, he played rugby in New Zealand and the UK, but eventually made the switch and stayed with boxing long term. He returned to the ring in 2025, finishing on a high by winning the Australasian Gold Cruiserweight title before retiring.

    These days, Asher is focused more on coaching. He’s spent years working in gyms across Auckland and Wellington, building experience and helping both fighters and everyday people improve their skills and fitness.

    A qualified personal trainer, Asher specialises in boxing based training - whether the goal is to get fitter, lose weight, or develop proper technique.

  • PT- Boxing & Trainer

    Iloa’s boxing journey started in 2019 with her first corporate fight in 2021. On her journey she’s developed a passion for the art of the sport and the power it has to help people get fitter and stronger both physically and mentally. Joining our team in April 2022, she is loving being a trainer.

    For Iloa, it’s a beautiful way to add value to an individual and build a stronger community. She loves encouraging others to their best and beyond, encouraging them to dig a little bit deeper through one more punch and one more burpee, to pace themselves but push themselves.

    With a lot of fun and goofiness and with a little bit of freshing out on the mic now and then (she might even sing a note or 2 and put on a random accent) she keeps it real and will push you to your personal limit but not without the support of the class and she will believe in you all the way.

  • PT - S&C & Boxing + Trainer

    Jo has been boxing for 11 years and coaching for the last 7 years, and has picked up a tonne of experience and knowledge along the way. 

    She is a very busy woman in the gym. A personal trainer for the last 6 years and has recently added another string to her bow, with a qualification in weight management. She also coaches Wellington Boxing Gyms Amateur Team alongside Coach Aisea as well.

    Jo is incredibly passionate about boxing and loves sharing her knowledge and expertise with others. She loves teaching boxing to people who have never done the sport before (especially women as she feels the need for more women in this amazing sport)  and can progress you right through from beginner to fight ready.

    She has stepped into the ring 5 times already, with hopefully another couple in the tank before she retires 

    Boxing, Fitness, Weight loss or Strength Training, Jo offers it all!

    With 4 corporate fights under her belt and over 5 years of Personal Training experience, Alea is here to help you smash your goals- whether they’re stepping into the ring for the first time, gaining confidence in the gym, or hitting a new PB on your squat.

    Alea is passionate about athletic development and strength training. Her clients range from stay at home mums wanting to stay fit to keep up with their growing children, to fighters looking to gain more strength and power in their movements, to people of all ages wanting to learn how to best protect their body against injury.

    Always up for a good laugh, Alea will push you to your limits, while maintaining fun and enjoyment throughout each session.

  • Lionel has been involved in and around boxing training and events for almost a decade. With over 7 years experience with group boxing fitness classes, and numerous fight camps - Lionel brings the passion and energy to push people to unlock potential they didn't know they had.

    Lionel is passionate about boxing, sports and building a safe and fun community with-in the gym and you'll probably hear him before you see him!

  • PT- S&C + Trainer

    With over a decade of experience in fitness and sports performance, Simone is a highly qualified S&C coach and PT dedicated to helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds achieve their fitness goals. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Sports Science and qualifications in Powerlifting and Weightlifting,  Simone brings a wealth of theoretical knowledge combined with practical expertise to his coaching approach.

    Apart from taking Boxfit and HIIT classes for WBG, Simone is a full-time Personal Trainer. He is also involved in premier rugby and football, where he optimizes player performance and applies injury prevention strategies. With a relentless passion for fitness and a commitment to ongoing professional development, Simone continues to stay at the forefront of the industry, integrating the latest research and methodologies into his coaching practices, whether guiding athletes to victory on the field or helping clients lead healthier lives.

  • PT - Boxing & Kickboxing + Trainer

    Ice is a dedicated boxer and has MANY years of experience in the ring. Ice has the ability to break down boxing techniques and translate it for a beginner to an experienced boxer. He takes his learnings from being a previous competitive amatuer boxer.

    He is also the king of Russian uppercuts, and is happy to share these with anyone walking through our doors!

    Ivan is passionate about people and helping them progress wherever they are on their health and fitness journey!

    Ivan is a blimm’n good guy and we know his values and vibe will help keep that WBG culture strong.

    Ivan takes HIIT and Boxfit classes in Kilbirnie and the City, and if you’re lucky you might catch him out in the Hutt every once in a while.

  • Trainer

    Stacey is one of our Kickboxing coaches here at WBG. With over 5 years of fighting experience in the NZ kickboxing circuit, Stacey has a wealth of knowledge to share.

    Stacey has a passion to give back and share what he’s learnt throughout his time fighting, and this is reflected in his dynamic kickboxing classes as he breaks down technique for both beginners, and advanced athletes.

    David is passionate about boxing and everything sports. He thrives on making a positive impact on the lives of others.

    David takes BoxFit in Kilbirnie and the city. In addition, David is also a resource coach in the various WBG corporate fight camps. He's the man supporting the fighters in preparation getting them fit-ready (runs the running group on Saturday mornings), keeping them informed, helping corner on the night and warm up the teams.

  • Receptionist

    Malele is the welcoming face at our Lower Hutt gym during weekday evenings. Still at school, she keeps the front desk organised and everything ticking along.

  • Gus joined Wellington Boxing Gym in 2021 and has been all in ever since. From day one, he embraced the grind, the energy, and the incredible culture that makes WBG more than just a gym — it’s a community. He’s proudly stepped into the ring three times and participated in every Clash of the Codes event, each one fueling his passion and respect for the sport even more. For Gus, being part of the trainer team now feels like coming full circle, and he’s pumped to give back to all of the members who call WBG home.

  • Jasmine joined Wellington Boxing Gym as a member, she quickly found her place in the community and hasn’t looked back — now stepping into the trainer space and giving back to the gym she calls home. She’s taken on two Clash of the Codes and stepped into the ring once, embracing the challenge every time. She’s no stranger to putting in the work and pushing both body and mind — and boxing has taken that to a new level. She’s all about building confidence, enjoying the process, and helping people discover what they’re capable of, one combo at a time.

    Nadia is the friendly face at our Kilbirnie gym on weekday evenings. She’s currently at school and keeps things running smoothly at the front desk.

  • Sean is a boxing trainer who’s done a handful of boxing camps, a couple of corporate fights, and spends most of his time at the city gym helping people punch above their fitness weight. He’s all about making workouts fun, challenging, and leaving you with a smile. Outside the gym, you’ll find him running or dragging you along to one of his other runs.

    If you’re ready to sweat, laugh, and maybe throw a punch or two, then Sean’s your guy!
