FAQ’S
Do I have to be a member?
No, Clash of the Codes is open to everyone!
How are the teams selected?
You choose! Select your preferred team when you sign up. As long as there’s space, it’s yours.
Each team does have a capacity limit, so if you’ve got your eye on a specific one, we recommend locking it in early.
When does camp start?
The first official day (induction) is a combined session for both teams at our Lower Hutt gym on Sunday 16th August.
From there, team training begins:
Lower Hutt: Monday 17th August
Kilbirnie: Tuesday 18th August
What days/times are the training sessions?
Lower Hutt: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday 6am-7am
Kilbirnie: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 6am-7am
Do I have to fight at the end of camp?
No, fighting is totally optional, you will be given the choice to throw your name in the hat for selection in week 8 of the camp.
Am I guaranteed a fight?
We do our best to match as many people as possible, but unfortunately not everyone will get a fight. There are a number of factors we have to consider when matching, and from a logistics point of view it’s simply not possible to accommodate everyone.
What gear do I need for the camp?
Hand wraps
Gloves - 16oz if under 91kg, 18oz if 91kg+
Mouthguard
Appropriate shoes and clothing for some seriously sweaty sessions
Why is there an age limit?
We follow the rules set by our sanctioning body, which prohibit anyone under 18 or over 55 from fighting. Safety is a top priority for us, and we take it very seriously.
Do I have to attend every session?
We ask for full commitment throughout the camp - there’s no value in doing it half heartedly. That said, we understand there may be the odd pre planned event or unavoidable work commitment. And if you’re unwell, please stay home and return once you’re fully recovered.
I’ve never done anything like this before - will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. Our coaches have your back the whole way. We strip it right back to basics and build you up step by step. We love a rookie!!
Do I have to be fit?
Nope! But we promise you will be by the end of camp!
